Liberal Democrats show there is another way in North East Lincolnshire

The 2026 local elections brought major political change to North East Lincolnshire, with Reform UK making significant gains across the borough.

The message from residents was clear. Too many people are frustrated by the cost of living, neglected neighbourhoods, crumbling roads, anti-social behaviour and a feeling that politics simply isn't delivering enough for their communities.

But amid that political wave, North East Lincolnshire Liberal Democrats had real reasons to be optimistic.

While Labour, the Conservatives and Independents all lost council seats, the Liberal Democrats were the only existing party not to lose a single seat in North East Lincolnshire.

In East Marsh, residents once again put their trust in a Liberal Democrat team with a record of being visible, listening and fighting for their community all year round.

East Marsh was the only ward in North East Lincolnshire where another party successfully held seats against Reform, returning another Liberal Democrat councillor and maintaining our three-strong council team.

And the signs of Liberal Democrat growth didn't stop there.

In Heneage, Liberal Democrats surged into second place, overtaking Labour, the Conservatives and Greens and emerging as the main challenger in the ward.

For us, these results aren't the finish line. They're evidence that there is something to build on.

At a time of significant political change, we held our ground where we already had representation and demonstrated that we can grow our support elsewhere.

Our task now is to take that momentum into more communities across the borough.

More local campaigning. More voices heard. More communities represented, and a stronger Liberal Democrat presence across North East Lincolnshire.
